The FSO International Conference 13-15 October 2009 Marseille

FSO project will deliver a set of possible strategies for on farm breeding and conservation in Europe, taking into account also the need of changing on going seed legislation (e.g. registration, certification, intellectual property rights). Due to the fact that the more interesting strategies of on farm breeding have been set up in Southern countries and that these countries are changing their seed legislation according to the UPOV rules, it is important for FSO partners to share their views with experts, scientists and farmers of the South.

The conference will aim at:

• Validating FSO findings;
• Promoting exchanges between different stakeholders;
• Drawing a set of strategies for an effective sustainable use of agricultural biodiversity taking fully into account benefits sharing at global scale.

The stakeholders invited will be scientists, experts from NGO and CSO networks and initiatives, farmers (mainly European farmers involved in the FSO project), policymakers and journalists.

The conference will have specific media event to disseminate FSO findings to a broad public.
